Marimba & Traditional Music of Colombia’s South Pacific Workshop (Bogotá)
Learn the rhythms that make Colombia’s Pacific Coast come alive with Jhon Alex del Castillo, master musician from Tumaco and winner of the prestigious Petronio Álvarez Festival.
Over four immersive sessions, you will explore the marimba de chonta, traditional drums, singing traditions, and the cultural heritage of Colombia’s South Pacific through a participatory methodology designed for both beginners and experienced musicians.
Each session includes a tasting of viche (the ancestral spirit of Colombia’s Pacific Coast), traditional dance demonstrations, and local cuisine. The workshop culminates in a vibrant public celebration featuring master musicians and cultural bearers from the Pacific region.
