what we do
In Colombia’s Pacific region, two contrasting realities coexist. One is shaped by a long history of violence, neglect, and systemic exclusion of Afro-Colombian communities. The other is a land of resilience, beauty, and vibrant cultural expression.
This territory pulses with music and movement. Its rivers are highways, its mangroves are home, and its forests hold ancestral knowledge. People here fish, farm, dance, sing, craft, cook with unique flavors, and heal with plants passed down through generations.
Marimbea was founded in 2016 with a clear mission: to support the well-being of communities in the southern Colombian Pacific by creating and promoting immersive experiences rooted in local culture—through music, dance, cuisine, and ancestral knowledge.
Every experience we design generates real opportunities: alternative income for tradition bearers, knowledge exchange, strong support networks, and most importantly, a shift in the narrative. Marimbea helps reframe how this territory is seen—highlighting a Pacific region rich in creativity, pride, and cultural heritage.
